Nicolas Cage - Nicolas Cage's In-flight Hoax Caused Trouble For Charlie Sheen

Nicolas Cage almost landed his one-time travel companion Charlie Sheen in big trouble with the law after impersonating an airline pilot during a flight - unaware the Wall Street star was secretly carrying cocaine.
The two actors were flying to San Francisco, California years ago when the National Treasure star decided to hijack the pilot's microphone as a prank.
But Cage's stunt went awry when law enforcement officials were called to interrogate them upon landing - and he unwittingly implicated Sheen, who spent years battling a serious drug addiction.
During an appearance on America's Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday (09Feb12), he confessed, "I did not know that Charlie had an eight ball of cocaine wrapped around his ankle. Nor did he know that halfway through the flight - now remember this was over 20 years ago and this was a very innocent time - that I was going to grab the PA (Public Address system) and announce to the passengers that I was the pilot and that I was not feeling well. And then when we landed, the pilot came out and understandably he was very angry...
"Then he pointed his finger at my face furiously, at which point the door to the aircraft swooshed open like a nuclear gateway to a bank vault to reveal six fully-armed police officers. And the first thing I did was say, 'First of all, he had nothing to do with it,' I pointed to Charlie. And then I very gingerly, very delicately, very kindly, talked my way out of going to airport jail."
And Cage still feels guilty about the incident because he had no idea Sheen was participating in illegal activity: "I didn't know he was doing that, I just knew that it was not a good situation. But again, it's in my past."
