Nicola Roberts - Nicola Roberts Counselled Girls Aloud Bandmates
British singer Nicola Roberts became a counsellor for her Girls Aloud bandmates on tour after picking up coping mechanisms when she had therapy for depression.
Roberts took part in counselling sessions when she struggled to deal with stardom in the early days of the Love MAChine hitmakers' career.
She eventually quit because the course was "too expensive" - but she soon found herself playing surrogate counsellor as her bandmates Cheryl Cole, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle poured out their troubles while on the road.
Roberts tells Britain's InStyle magazine, "I think it's important, especially today, when judgment seems to be spiralling out of control. I'd use what I'd learnt on the girls too, a bit like I was the group counsellor.
"So if Sarah would be in a certain mood, or Kimberley said something out of character, I'd work out why and explain to them, 'It's because you've only had three hours sleep. You're tired!'. Although I think I could be quite annoying at times."
