Nick Lachey Can't Wait To Be A Dad

Nick Lachey is ''excited'' about fatherhood.

The reality star - who is expecting a baby boy this September with his wife Vanessa - has been looking forward to being a dad for years and can't believe the moment is almost upon him.

The 38-year-old hunk told PEOPLE: ''I can't even explain how excited I am. For someone who has wanted a family for such a long time, I've looked forward to this moment.

''Now that it's almost here, it's awesome.''

Nick's first shot at marriage with ex-wife Jessica Simpson - chronicled on hit MTV show 'Newlyweds' - didn't work out and since parenthood has been so long coming he is now keen to experience even the worst sides of it.

The star gushed: ''Maybe it's because this is my first, but I'm looking forward to the lack of sleep - everything. I don't care.

''I'm excited to do the whole process.''

However, Nick - who wed presenter Vanessa in June 2011 - draws the line at changing dirty nappies.

He joked: ''Make that almost everything. I'm willing to change diapers. But I'm not necessarily excited to change diapers.''

The lovebirds could be repeating the process very soon, since Vanessa recently confessed she hoped to have a girl next.

She said: ''I can't wait, when we keep having more children, to sprinkle boys and girls throughout the family.

''And if I have a little girl, she's going to be Nick's angel, I'm sure!''
