Nick Cannon - Nick Cannon Opens Up: I Have Autoimmune Disease
Nick Cannon has opened up about his on-going health problems, revealing that he is battling an autoimmune disease which has left him with kidney disease. The television personality and DJ was first hospitalized in January and then hospitalized again just weeks later with blood clots in his lungs.
Speaking to People magazine at New York's Teqa Restaurant and Tequila Bar - where he was deejaying on Wednesday - Cannon said, "The blood clot thing was probably the scariest because ... I've known people who have passed away from that.I thought I was getting better.and then that happened, so that kind of came out of nowhere" As for the specifics of his disease, which have remained sketchy in recent weeks, Cannon confirmed he had an "autoimmune disease" but added, "It's a lot of stuff.but it's all in order now". Nick stepped down from his New York-based radio show in February to concentrate on his recovery, but conceded that the health problems were something he was going to have to live with for the rest of his life. When asked by People magazine whether his condition was hereditary, Cannon explained, "They kind of say [my] autoimmune [disease] is - like a lupus type of thing, but no one else in my family has it".
