New Tour Footage Of The Rolling Stones Emerges

The Rolling Stones can't let their long-time rivals The Beatles hog the limelight even after 50 years in the business. The two bands who blazed a trail throughout the 1960s are both celebrating their 50th anniversaries this year and earlier this week it was widely reported that the Fab Four were set to appear in unseen footage shot during the making of their Magical Mystery Tour documentary back in 1967. Not to be trumped though, the Stones have now revealed their own unseen footage shot whilst the rock and roll group were on tour in 1965.

The Chicago Tribune reports that new footage shows the band being chased by fans, making fun of their contemporaries and also playing early versions of songs that would go on to define their career. The Rolling Stones Charlie is my Darling - Ireland 1965 premiered at the New York Film Festival this week, and featured restored footage from a hand-held camera of the band's two-day journey to Belfast and Dublin. The film's producer told the festival "They didn't know what they were going to do with it at the time. It was just to have them in front of the camera." Even on this footage the rivalry between the two bands is evident, with the Stones playing Beatles song in the film.
