New Sherlock Holmes Novel Approved As Movie Nears Completion

A new Sherlock Holmes novel is set to be published in September 2011 and will be penned by the award winning author Anthony Horowitz after he was chosen by the ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE estate to continue the story of the much-loved fictional detective, reports the UK's Daily Telegraph. The novel's title and plot remain closely guarded secrets by the book's publisher Orion but in a speech made to the Sherlock Holmes society on 15th January 2011, Horowitz said he is looking to produce a tale for "a modern audience".
Speaking about the forthcoming book, the 54-year-old author said, "I fell in love with the Sherlock Holmes stories when I was sixteen and I've read them many times since", before adding, "I simply couldn't resist this opportunity to write a brand new adventure for this iconic figure and my aim is to produce a first rate mystery for a modern audience while remaining absolutely true to the spirit of the original". Horowitz, the author of innumerable best-selling crime novels as well as a string of children's books, will release the novel just months before a new Sherlock Holmes movie by Guy Ritchie hits the big screen.
The currently untitled film, starring Robert Downey Jr as the detective and Jude Law as his sidekick 'Dr Watson', is the sequel to the acclaimed 2009 movie which grossed over $500 million at the box-office. The movie is set to be released in the UK on 16th December 2011.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, the forthcoming Batman movie by acclaimed director Christopher Nolan will feature the American actress Anne Hathaway as 'Catwoman', reports the UK's Independent newspaper. Hathaway, currently starring in the romantic-comedy 'Love & Other Drugs', will be the first actress to play the Gotham City villain since Michelle Pfeiffer took on the role for 'Batman Returns'.
There has been intense speculation in recent weeks as to which villains would feature in the new movie and who would be cast, but in a statement issued yesterday (19th January 2011) 40-year-old Nolan said, "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story". The director also confirmed that 'Inception' star Tom Hardy will star as 'Bane', a villain that previously appeared in the 1997 movie 'Batman & Robin', he added, "I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman's most formidable enemies".
Christian Bale will once again play 'The Caped Crusader' and Sir Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman are all expected to reprise their roles from the acclaimed 2008 movie 'Batman: The Dark Knight'.

'The Rachel Haircut', a style that became synonymous with the 1990's after Jennifer Aniston's character 'Rachel Green' first debuted it on the hit sitcom Friends, was "the ugliest haircut" that the American actress had ever seen, she reveals in an interview with Allure Magazine. The haircut spawned thousands of copycats but Aniston says she still cannot figure out its popularity.
Speaking in the forthcoming February issue of the magazine, the 41-year-old was asked whether she had ever experienced any disasters with hair styling, to which she replied, "Have there been disasters? I think that's a very relative term with hair. Let's say there have been moments I'd rather not relive, like that whole Rachel thing". When pushed on the subject, Aniston opened up about her hatred for the style, saying that while she "loved" Friends hairstylist Chris MCMillan he was also 'the bane of her existence' because he created the infamous 'Rachel look'. The actress concluded "How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I've ever seen. What I really want to know is, how did that thing have legs? Let's just say I'm not a fan of short, layered cuts on me personally".
Aniston is set to star alongside Jason Bateman in the upcoming comedy movie 'Horrible Bosses' about three friends who conspire to murder their bosses in order to find happiness.
