Neve Campbell is campaigning against oil companies with her new movie 'Dirty Oil'.
The 'Scream' actress narrates the British film, which highlights the controversial about the practice of extracting oil from tar sands on the beaches of her native Canada, which is believed to be the largest industrial project on the planet today.
She said: "I was invited to see what was going on there and speak to some of the people who have been affected and I was really overwhelmed. It's devastating for the environment, and devastating for the First Nationals - Canadian Aboriginals.
"I was appalled by what I saw. For me it's about helping them have a voice."
The release of the film coincides with the publishing of a report, called 'Opportunity Cost of Tar Sands Development: How to Better Spend $379 billion' by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which condemns the amount invested into the oil project.
Colin Butfield, the WWF's head of campaigns in Britain, said: "This report has thrown up some quite staggering statistics in terms of how this money could be spent trying to save the planet rather than destroying it."
The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) said it felt the report was "missing context" and contains "factual errors".
