Hip-hop star NELLY has unveiled a new scholarship programme to give impoverished students the chance to earn a college degree.
The Ride Wit Me hitmaker was joined onstage by R&B star Mario to make the announcement at his star-studded Black and White Ball in St Louis, Missouri on Sunday (06Dec09), which was attended by the likes of Jermaine Dupri and The Isley Brothers.
During the fourth annual show, Nelly announced he is sponsoring two students from the St. Louis area to receive a four-year scholarship at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.
And he used the ball as an opportunity to appeal for cash to boost the campaign, urging his guests to donate generously to the scholarship fund.
