Michael Jackson - Ne-yo Honours Michael Jackson's Birthday With Special Concert
R&B star Ne-YO paid tribute to Michael Jackson on what would have been the late icon's 54th birthday on Wednesday (29Aug12) by performing a collection of the King of Pop's hits.
Ne-Yo took the stage at New York City's Gotham Hall for the celebration, which was held to mark the 25th anniversary of Jackson's hit Bad album - released on 31 August, 1987 - and he brought down the house with a packed set, which included the superstar's hits Smooth Criminal and The Way You Make Me Feel.
The Grammy winner, who did his best to imitate the tragic legend's dance moves, admits it was no easy feat emulating his hero, telling the Associated Press, "You just don't do a Michael song, you try and do the best you can."
Singer Melanie Fiona also performed at the gig, singing covers of Bad and Dirty Diana.
The celebrities were not the only ones marking Jackson's birthday in style - his mum Katherine, sister La Toya, and his children Prince, Paris, and Blanket returned to his hometown of Gary, Indiana on Wednesday for a candlelight vigil with fans outside his former family home.
