Nbc First With Football, Last With Everything Else
Once again NBC's Sunday Night Football ranked No. 1 for the week with 20.3 million viewers tuning in -- but football was all she wrote for the struggling network, whose second-highest-rated show, Law And Order SVU , came in at No. 40. CBS's NCIS captured nearly as many viewers as the NFL -- 20 million, at a much lower cost. The penultimate week of Dancing With The Stars gave ABC its highest numbers. The performance episode on Monday night drew 17.9 million viewers, while the results show on Tuesday attracted 15.1 million. ABC also captured the top spot for scripted shows among viewers 18-49 -- Modern Family , which, Nevertheless, only placed 12th among total adults. The network also did well with a special edition of its 20/20 magazine show in which Diane Sawyer interviewed Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords for the first time since Giffords was shot by a deranged man in January. Among the nightly newscasts, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams once again led with 9.1 million viewers. ABC World News with Diane Sawyer placed second with 8 million viewers, while the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley saw significant improvement as it attracted 6.8 million viewers. Among total viewers, CBS placed first with a 7.1 household rating and an 11 share. ABC was second with a 6.1/10. NBC came in third with an average 4.3/7, while Fox trailed with a 3.7/6.
