Natalie Wood - Natalie Wood Death Probe: Police Find No New Evidence

Two months after the case into Natalie Wood 's death was re-opened by Los Angeles Country Police, detectives have this week confirmed they have found no new evidence to suggest the cause was anything but accidental. Although the case has not been closed, an official from the Sheriff's Department said it was "highly unlikely" any new ground will be broken, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Police re-opened the case in November after receiving new information about the death, which occurred when Hollywood actress Wood was out sailing off Santa Catalina Island in 1981 with her husband Robert Wagner and the actor Christopher Walken. In the past few months, police have conducted numerous interviews and reviewed the entire case file - they also travelled to Hawaii to inspect the boat where the actress was last seen alive. Wagner and Walken have always maintained that they didn't know how Wood came to fall into the water and die and the death has proved to be one of the biggest Hollywood mysteries of recent times. The acting duo did tell officials they had an argument on-board the boat, but eventually calmed down and said goodnight to one another. Wagner says when he reached the bedroom, Natalie was missing, but thought she had used a small inflatable boat. Friends of the actress have always been suspicious of this suggestion, given that Wood was said to have been terrified of water.
Since the new investigation has been opened, the captain of the boat, Dennis Davern, has appeared on numerous television shows suggesting that foul play may have played a part in Wood's death.
