Napoleon Dynamite To Become Animated Series
The cult comedy film NAPOLEON DYNAMITE starring JON HEDER is set to become an animated series, reports MTV News. The 2004 indie favourite about a small-town kid became an instant hit when it was released, and Fox have now confirmed that they will be showing six animated episodes from the new series.
It was reported back in May 2010 that the network were planning to develop the movie, with Heder, EFREN RAMIREZ, AARON RUELL, and JON GRIES all set to provide voices for their original characters. JARED HESS, who co-wrote and directed the movie, is taking up the role of executive producer and writer on the animated series, while 'The Simpsons' executive producer MIKE SCULLY has also joined the team and will act as a producer. Currently, there is no word as to when the series will be broadcast, but reports suggest that 'Napoleon Dynamite' will become part of Fox's new Sunday night animation scheduling which currently shows 'The Simpsons', 'Family Guy', 'American Dad', and 'The Cleveland Show'.
The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004, and despite its modest budget, grossed $44.5 million worldwide, quickly developing a cult following.
