Nancy Sinatra - Nancy Sinatra Heartbroken Over Billy Strange's Death
Singer Nancy Sinatra has been left heartbroken after learning about the death of her longtime collaborator, musician Billy Strange.
Sinatra took to her Twitter.com blog on Wednesday (22Feb12) to break the news to fans, revealing the celebrated guitarist and singer/songwriter had died in Nashville, Tennessee.
She wrote, "My dear friend, the legendary guitarist/arranger Billy Strange passed away this morning in Nashville. My heart is shattered."
No further details about his death were available as WENN went to press.
Born in 1930, Strange began his music career co-writing hits like A Little Less Conversation for Elvis Presley and Limbo Rock for fellow rocker Chubby Checker.
He later worked with Sinatra on her 1967 James Bond theme You Only Live Twice and helped to arrange the music for Somethin' Stupid - her duet with her legendary father Frank.
Strange continued his professional relationship with Sinatra and famously played guitar on her cover of Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) in 1966 and provided the musical arrangement for her hit These Boots are Made For Walkin'.
He also worked with Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Willie Nelson, Nat King Cole and the recently-reunited Beach Boys. Strange is a Rockabilly Hall of Fame and Musicians Hall of Fame inductee.
