Tv - Myleene Klass Backing Contest For Young Writers
Pop star-turned-Tv presenter Myleene Klass has teamed up with a British tabloid to launch a competition to find newspaper columnists of the future.
The former Hear'Say star is backing The Sun's Column Idol competition, which gives young people the chance to have their articles printed in the publication.
The fourth annual contest is open to youngsters aged between 16 and 25, and six finalists will be mentored by staff before their entries are judged by a panel.
Klass has urged budding writers to have fun while coming up with their pieces, insisting, "Use your powers for the good because there are a lot of people you will be able to influence. You should also provoke a reaction. There's no point writing a 'vanilla' column. Remember everything worthwhile is about hard, hard work so don't expect it to be easy. But enjoy it and write about things that move you. And be truthful - the truth is usually funny."
Entries must be submitted to The Sun by 12 July (13).
