U.S. funnyman Mike Myers has dismissed a legal wrangle with Universal Studios in 2000 as a simple misunderstanding that was blown out of proportion.
The Austin Powers actor was sued by the movie house after he backed out of a $20 million (GBP10 million) contract to play his Saturday Night Live character, Dieter, on the big screen using a script approval clause because he didn't like what was offered.
Myers went on to film The Cat In The Hat with the same moviemakers, but dismisses claims it was part of the settlement.
He tells British film magazine Empire, "Oh, it was such a blip. I never think about it. It literally lasted about three weeks. The whole thing was blown out of all proportion by the media. It was a couple of weeks and everybody's friends now and it's like the whole thing never happened.
"It was a misunderstanding that lasted three weeks. We fixed it and then made another movie together."
Myers hasn't ruled out one day turning Dieter - a bored West German expressionist - into a movie, saying, "I love the character, I love doing Dieter. So we'll see."
