Conductor RICCARDO MUTI returned to Milan's La Scala opera house for one night only on Monday (02MAY05) - a month after he quit his post as the venue's artistic director.
Muti resigned on 2 April (05), citing "staff hostility", but returned to lead the VIENNA PHILHARMONIC in a concert arranged before his dramatic exit.
French STEPHANE LISSNER was enrolled as Muti's replacement later that month (APR05).
A spokeswoman for La Scala said, "There was a feeling of hope that the maestro will return to conduct at La Scala."04/05/2005 14:02
