Warrant - Musical Memorial Set For Jani Lane
Warrant star Jani Lane's musical legacy will be celebrated at a special memorial show on Saturday (11Aug12), exactly one year after his death.
The 47-year-old singer was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room on 11 August, 2011 and toxicology tests showed he succumbed to alcohol poisoning.
His close family and friends subsequently remembered the late rocker at a private service, and now his musical pals are staging their own memorial in Akron, Ohio on Saturday, according to Cleveland.com.
Billy Morris - who played with Lane in Warrant - will perform at the tribute show with his band Cleveland's Breakfast Club, and he's promised to honour the star's musical legacy.
He says, "I loved Jani. He moved to Los Angeles to make it in music, but he never left his Ohio roots.
"We'll do some Warrant songs. You know, he was just as good of a songwriter as Kurt Cobain... He could play any instrument or just sit down with an acoustic guitar and come up with a rock 'n' roll song on the spot. He was a great guy and an amazing musician, and I hope that's what people remember about him."
