Michael 'Blue' Williams - Music Manager Wants Beyonce And Jay-z To Back Anti-gun Scheme26 February 2013
Music manager Michael 'blue' Williams is urging Beyonce and Jay Z to support his plans to encourage troubled youngsters to give up their guns by offering them work placements in the record industry.
Williams, who has managed the careers of OutKast and Cee Lo Green, has put together a proposal for a new scheme called Guns for Greatness which he is pitching to New York City police chiefs.
The gun buy-back scheme will encourage youths to hand over their weapons in exchange for help breaking into the music industry, and Williams is hoping to get his famous friends onboard to launch the drive.
He tells the New York Daily News, "The Beyonce show is coming to Brooklyn, the Jay Z show is coming to Yankee Stadium. Our goal is to reach out to individuals who are in my industry, in my world and who I have an association with, and get their support. I think we should all work together to help get guns off the streets."
In a letter to police chiefs, Williams writes, "This program aims to provide young people with an opportunity to receive guidance and inspiration from committed mentors, an important option that will enable them to experience possibilities other than a life surrounded by gun violence and unnecessary shootings and killings."
Beyonce plays at Brooklyn's Barclays Center in August (13) and her husband Jay Z at Yankee Stadium in July (13) as part of his joint tour with pop singer Justin Timberlake.
