Muse Lose Out At Kerrang! Awards
Rockers MUSE were surprise losers at last night's (24AUG06) Kerrang! awards in London, converting only one of their impressive five nominations into a gong. The PLUG IN BABY stars, who have also been tipped for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize this year (06), were up for Best Live Band, Single, Album, Video and Best British Band - but only triumphed in the first. Far from hanging their heads in shame however, the MATT BELLAMY-fronted group missed the ceremony to give an electrifying performance to a sell-out crowd in Edinburgh, Scotland. The band were supported by US rockers MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, who scooped Best Band On The Planet at the Kerrang! awards. HELEN EARNSHAW, 23, who attended the gig, says, "Muse were absolutely awesome and clearly not disappointed by the Kerrang! snub. They put their warm-up act to shame. "Kerrang! definitely got it right with the best live band accolade, but Muse deserved more on top." Welsh group LOSTPROPHETS were the only multiple winners at the ceremony, taking home both Best British Band and Best Album, for LIBERATION TRANSMISSION. Former STEREOPHONICS drummer STUART CABLE hosted the awards at London's The Brewery, which also saw heavy metal band SLAYER inducted into the Kerrang! Hall Of Fame. The music magazine presented its Legend award to its first cover star when it launched 25 years ago - ANGUS YOUNG of AC DC.
