Muse - Muse forced to scale back BRITs performance

Muse have been told to scale back their performance at the BRIT Awards tonight (20.02.13).

The 'Supremacy' band - who are nominated for Best Live Band and Best Live Act - will open the show with one of their trademark all-guns-blazing stage shows featuring 60 dancers, which will culminate with fireworks exploding over the heads of the audience.

However, the number of fireworks has had to be scaled back, over health and safety fears.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''Bosses were concerned at the amount of pyrotechnics on stage so told Muse in no uncertain terms to cull the fireworks.

''There will be around 20,000 people inside The 02 and organisers couldn't risk causing a blaze or injury.''

Meanwhile, 20 extra security guards have had to be drafted in for the event, as organisers fear boy band One Direction could be mobbed by screaming fans.

A source added: ''There's already a massive buzz online about One Direction being here and some girls have even planned to fly in from abroad just to catch a glimpse of them.

''We can't afford to take any chances with security so we're drafting in extra people to cope if things get out of hand.''

One Direction also have their own separate dressing room to the rest of the acts. They will be debuting their charity single 'One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)' at the event. Other performers include Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Robbie Williams and Emeli Sande.
