Murdoch's To Testify Under Oath About Hackergate
Brian Leveson, the English judge who will head the inquiry into phone hacking, is expected to call Rupert Murdoch and his son James to testify under oath about their knowledge of the activity at News of the World , the London Daily Telegraph reported today (Tuesday), citing no sources. He is also expected to call Prime Minister David Cameron and other officials of the British government to answer questions about their links to News International, the umbrella group for Murdoch's news operations in the U.K. In reporting on the latest development, the Telegraph observed "The prospect of courtroom evidence will increase the impression that the Leveson inquiry is an unofficial 'trial' of key players in the phone hacking scandal." It is expected to last about a year, and Leveson has indicated that he will allow television cameras into the Royal Courts of Justice, where it will be held.
