Mumford And Sons Will Definitely Be Playing Glastonbury Despite Bassist's Health Scare

Mumford and Sons will definitely be headlining Glastonbury Festival this Sunday, with the mega-popular folk popsters putting to rest any concern that they might not be able to appear as the final act of the festival following bassist Ted Dwane's recent blood clot. The band had already been forced to pull out of their Bonnaroo set last weekend and it was thought they may have to do the same with Glasto, but alas the group will go on as planned.

The band recently announced that they were re-scheduling a number of shows due to take place this August, when the band were initially due to begin their tour of North America, by moving them instead to the end of September. This had caused doubts to arise around their Glastonbury performance, due to take place in Somerset on June 30, but keyboard player Ben Lovett was quick to dispel any potential rumours when he told the Radio Times on Monday (June 24); "All we feel is incredibly grateful and happy that he's going to be OK, and that we're going to get back out on that stage at Glastonbury as four brothers and do what we do."

Dwane suffered a brain clot in his brain and was rushed to hospital to undergo emergency treatment earlier this month. The band had a number of festival appearances and live, solo shows due to take place between then and now and were forced to pull out when he was taken into surgery. Fortunately the bassist has so far made a full recovery and as we will see on Sunday when the band headline the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm with Dwane in tow.

On top of showing off the recovering Dwane, the band will also be able to show just how much difference five years can make for a band, as the headlining performance will mark their first return to Glastonbury since 2008, when the group were only a few month old. Known for nurturing and promoting new bands, the next Mumford and Sons might me playing the festival this year. It is a magical place after all and, providing the weather report hold up, a warm place too.
