The latest reboot of Much Ado About Nothing – directed by Joss Whedon – has a classy trailer for everyone’s perusal. It features lots of jazz, selected lines from the film and is shot in black and white. Watch it now.

This “indie” Shakespeare film was shot primarily at Whedon’s own home, features many of his close friends, and was made on a tight budget. It was actually filmed in less than 12 days in 2011 in-between The Avengers schedule, and was handed a special presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival 2012. It was also selected as the closing night film for the Glasgow Film Festival 2013. Alexis Denisof who starred in the Buffy spin-off Angel and worked with Whedon on The Avengers also stars. Other reboots of the classic Shakespeare comedy include BBC TV shows in 1984 and 2005, and a 2001 Hindi film called Dil Chahta Hai, which was a loose adaptation.

This represents a previously unexplored string to Whedon’s bow. He created Buffy the Vampire Slayer – one of the most loved TV dramas of all time, paving the way for today’s Twilight’s – and co-wrote the first Toy Story movie – widely regarded to be the best animated film of all time. He also has a hand in comic book writing, having worked on Astonishing X-Men, Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight, Angel: After the Fall, and Runaways. Much Ado About Nothing is released in the UK and Ireland on 14 June. Let us know what you think of the trailer in the comments section below.
