Mtv Movie Awards: 'The Hunger Games' To Battle 'Bridesmaids'

'The Hunger Games' and 'Bridesmaids' have topped this year's MTV Movie Awards nominations, with eight each. As well as 'Best Movie', they have both also been nominated for Best Cast along with their Movie of the Year rivals 'The Help' and 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2' as well as '21 Jump Street'.

The nominations were previously given by public vote but this year have been selected by a panel of various actors, producers and insiders. The winners, however, will be decided by the public and voting will take place from Tuesday. Also selected for Movie of The Year is 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1' with its stars ROBERT PATTERSON and KRISTIN STEWART also receiving nominations for best on-screen smooch along with 'Harry Potter's Rupert Grint and Emma Watson; 'Hunger Games' Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson; 'The Vow's Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams; and 'Crazy, Stupid Love's Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

'The Hunger Games' and 'Bridemaids' actors have each bagged a handful of nominations for other categories. Josh and Jennifer in 'Hunger Games' were selected for Best Male and Best Female Performance - likewise with 'Bridesmaids' KRISTIN WIIG who also got Best Comedic Performance with co-star Melissa McCarthy. THG's Liam Hemsworth was selected for Breakthrough Performance and Elizabeth Banks for Best On-Screen Transformation. Finally, 'Bridesmaid's Melissa Mccarthy's second and third nomination was for Breakthrough Performance and Best Gut-Wrenching Performance with her co-stars. Jon Hamm was also picked for Best On-Screen Dirt Bag.The Awards will take place on June 3rd 2012.
