James Brown - Moss' Hairdresser Pal Apologises For Racist Outburst

Ben Douglas, a Tv commentator and theatre academy founder, wrote a piece in Britain's Daily Mail to describe his disgust and anger at being called the N-word several times at the showbiz bash in London.

He claimed the man, a fashion insider and close pal of Kate Moss, was drunk and had deeply offended him, but refused to name and shame him because he didn't want to "ruin someone's career or to do a kiss and tell".

However, after Brown's name was linked to the incident online, the hairdresser - who has his own show on U.K. Tv - spoke out to confess he hurled the abuse before releasing a grovelling apology to Douglas.

In a statement, Brown insists he is not a racist and blames alcohol for his vile outburst, saying, "I'd like to make a public apology to Mr Douglas, to his friends and to Bafta for my offensive and stupid comments.

"The simple truth is that I had drunk far too much on the evening and my behaviour was totally unacceptable.

"Everyone who knows me knows I am not racist in any way whatsoever, but this incident has shown me that my drinking is way out of control and I need to take urgent measures to deal with it."

Brown also claims he has contacted Douglas to apologise in person: "I have been in touch with Mr Douglas and will be writing to him and to the Bafta organisers to apologise personally. I am very sorry and very embarrassed."
