Morgan Set To Interview Goodyby Contributor | 28 February 2009
Former Daily Mirror newspaper editor Piers Morgan is to interview cancer sufferer Jade Goody for an ITV1 documentary to be screened later this year.
Morgan, who has since also made his name as a TV celebrity in his own right as a judge on Britain's Got Talent and on similar shows in the USA, has been filming a new series of programmes for the channel featuring detailed and probing interviews with the likes of Sharon Osbourne and Katie Price.
Goody, who shot to fame after appearing on Big Brother in 2002, has since become one of the highest earners to have been produced by the reality TV show after launching her own perfume and writing her autobiography as well as a regular magazine column.
And she has signalled her intention to use the fee from the interview to provide for her children.
"Jade wants to do this interview for two reasons: to raise money to safeguard her two sons' future and to raise awareness of cervical cancer screening," Morgan said.
"And I feel honoured that she wants me to help her achieve this.
"I've interviewed Jade several times before, and found her to be an incredibly gutsy, funny and warm young woman.
"What is happening to her is an absolute tragedy, but the extraordinarily courageous and positive way she is dealing with it says everything you need to know about her."
