Moore Gets 007 Star

by | 12 October 2007

Sir Roger Moore has been given his own star on Hollywood's legendary Walk of Fame.

And in an amazing coincidence - or possibly just some excellent planning - the former Bond's star is located in front of 7007 Hollywood Boulevard.

Sir Roger, 80, appeared as the spy with a licence to kill in seven films, starting with Live and Let Die in 1973.

He battled Sir Christopher's demonic Scaramanga in The Man with the Golden Gun, grappled with Jaws in Moonwalker and The Spy Who Loved Me, and in the latter, performed one of 007's most famous stunts, by escaping from the Russians with a parachute emblazoned with the Union Jack.

After the unveiling of his star - the 2,350th on Hollywood Boulevard - Sir Roger said: "I've had a love affair with Hollywood for many, many years."

"Sadly, I had to retire from the Bond films," he admitted. "The girls were getting younger, or I was just getting too old."

He studied at the Rada drama school in the 1940s and as well as Bond, famously starred as Ivanhoe, Lord Brett Sinclair in The Persuaders and Simon Templar in The Saint.

Pierce Brosnan is the only other Bond actor to have his own star on the Walk of Fame.
