Moneyball And The Descendants Nominated For Scripter Award

Moneyball is set to battle The Descendants for the coveted Scripter Award, which honours both the author and screenwriter of the year's best book-to-film adaptation.

The sports movie, starring Brad Pitt, and George Clooney's family drama will go up against A Dangerous Method, Jane Eyre and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy for the 24th annual honour.

The winner will be announced at a gala at the University of Southern California on 18 February (12).

Crash writer Paul Haggis has also been selected to receive the 2012 Usc Scripter Literary Achievement Award at the ceremony.

Aaron Sorkin won the 2011 Scripter Award for The Social Network and went on to win the Oscar for his screenplay adaptation.
