Mindy Mccready - Mindy Mccready Remembered At Musical Memorial

Mindy Mccready's friends and family gathered in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday (06Mar13) to remember the tragic country star at a musical memorial.

The Guys Do It All the Time singer was found dead at her home following an apparent suicide on 17 February (13), just one month after the sudden death of her producer boyfriend David Wilson, who is also believed to have taken his own life.

She was laid to rest in her native Florida on 26 February (13), and her loved ones come together again on Wednesday to celebrate her musical legacy.

Almost 300 mourners gathered at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, where they listened to a recording of her final song, I'll See You Yesterday, at the beginning of the service.

Following an introduction and prayer from Reverend Edward F. Steiner, MCCready's longtime friend and spokeswoman Kat Atwood was the first to pay tribute.

She told the congregation, "Mindy had the hope of a bright-eyed child, a spirit unbridled, the strength and courage of a warrior... She possessed both the look of 'old Hollywood' and extraordinary, award-winning talent. She enjoyed insurmountable successes, hopeless and never-ending love, endured unthinkable personal conflict and contradiction, and crippling loss. Mindy was witty; she was clever; she was a wild cat; she was a lady."

Country artist Bryan White performed What I Already Know by Point of Grace, while Lorrie Morgan, MCCready's former labelmate, later belted out Ave Maria and one-time Fleetwood Mac member Bekka Bramlett sang How Great Thou Art.

Morgan revealed, "Mindy was funny, sexy and talented. She had soul in her eyes. But in her eyes, I could always see sadness... a soul crying for help. She tried to take care of the world and I, in part, could closely relate to Mindy and her world of duties and the people she felt responsible for. We had so much in common and I wanted to take care of her - but that would have been like the blind leading the blind."

MCCready's father Tim missed the service, and a friend revealed he was struggling emotionally following the death of his daughter, who had battled substance abuse.

Family spokesperson Tristan White explained at the service, "(Her relatives) watched her go down hill quickly and they tried all they knew. They wished they could have saved her but Mindy wanted to go home to Jesus and David."
