Mills' Anger At Therapy Session
SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY's ex-wife HEATHER MILLS was determined to set up a support group for amputees after a counsellor declared she would never be "as attractive to men" after losing her leg.
The charity campaigner has worn a prosthetic limb since her left leg was amputated following a motorcycle accident in 1993.
She decided to try therapy to help her overcome the trauma - but was so upset by the counsellor's methods, she decided to set up her own organisation to help amputees.
Mills says, "She said, 'You do realise you won't be as attractive to men,' and I just looked at this woman and said, 'Listen, dear, if both my arms and legs were missing, I'd still be more attractive than you,' and she just slammed her text book down and off she went.
"That was my experience of counselling and I thought this is ridiculous and that's when I started to counsel amputees from atrocities, war zones and cancer."
