Milla Jovovich is a 'badass' in the new 'Resident Evil' film.

The 36-year-old actress - who plays protagonist Alice in the movie franchise based on the horror video game of the same name - understands her character better now after portraying her for eight years and knows when to tell director Paul W. S. Anderson when he's going too far.

Speaking in an interview with Collider.com about the action sequences, she said: ''There were definitely a couple of things that I was like, 'I don't care how many times you show that to me - that does not look real - this isn't 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon'', you know what I mean?

''People have to buy it - like she (Alice) could really do this. I'm a badass but I can't be a magical badass.''

The pretty brunette also said that this film shows a lighter side for Alice, and that she can ''have a laugh'' as she's killing a zombie as this is now her ''normal world.''

'Resident Evil: Retribution' see's the Umbrella Corporation T-virus continue to ravage the Earth - with Alice fighting to escape the hostile world.

Despite the doom and gloom of the film, however, Milla, added: ''I want people to leave the theatre going, 'Yeah, this was awesome! It was so much fun!'

''I want adults to feel like they're going to magic mountain.''
