Miley Cyrus - Miley Cyrus Urges Fans To Donate To Help Paralysed Australian Sportsman

Beau Vernon was playing for his local Leongatha Football Club when he collided with another athlete, fracturing his neck and dislocating his vertebrae.

He was airlifted to hospital in Melbourne, where he underwent surgery to repair two broken vertebrae, but the 23 year old has been left paralysed.

His parents have been struggling to cover Vernon's medical fees and a fund was set up in his name to raise money to cover the costs, and now Cyrus, who is engaged to Aussie hunk Liam Hemsworth, is using her fame to help drive up donations to the charity.

In a series of Twitter.com posts, she writes, "help Beau Vernon A young Aussie Football star who suffered a spinal injury during football thats (sic) left him without movement in his arms &legs... The Beau Vernon fund has been set up to help support Beau and the challenges that lay ahead for him and his family."
