Miley Cyrus' Home A Victim Of Swatting Prank
Miley Cyrus got a shock when police, fire and rescue squads raided her house in Los Angeles after responding to an alleged report of a home invasion. However, worry not about Cyrus, because it seems she was the victim of a fast growing prank known as "swatting". Swatting is, as you might've guessed given the nature of the news, when someone attempts to get an emergency service to dispatch a response team even when there isn't a situation that needs to be seen too. It's costly for the services, and of course prevents them from taking care of potentially far more serious situations elsewhere.
It appears, according to ABC News, that Cyrus' home has been made the latest location for just such a prank. "We responded to a call of a kidnapping in progress, one person shot, at an address on Amanda Drive," North Hollywood police said to the news channel. A recording of a two-way phone conversation has also seemed to confirm that an incident occurred at the same address as Cyrus's. The emergency services then approached en masse, setting a perimeter around the area before advancing. However, to their disappointment, it was pretty clear that nothing was going on.
One disgruntled police officer commented "It's not just bad, it is a crime. And if we find out who it is, we will arrest them and prosecute them."
