Mike Love - Mike Love & Bruce Johnston To Continue Beach Boys Tour Past Anniversary Shows
Mike Love and Bruce Johnson have confirmed they'll be keeping the music of The Beach Boys alive when the group's 50th anniversary tour wraps in London at the end of the month (Sep12) - they'll be heading back to America for new dates without Brian Wilson and Al Jardine.
The duo will reunite their longtime configuration of The Beach Boys with October (12) shows in Texas and Mississippi.
Manager Jay Jones tells Wenn, "The post-50th anniversary configuration will not include Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks. The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band.
"Meanwhile, Beach Boys fans are entitled to have some live music... the Endless Summer will continue for fans everywhere who want to see The Beach Boys live."
And he assures fans there are still plans afoot for Love and Johnson to work with Wilson, Jardine and David Marks again: "The guys are still talking about various ways they can continue to do various things together."
Meanwhile, Jones has also cleared up the confusion surrounding a scrapped concert in Texas, insisting he pulled the plug on the show because promoters were incorrectly advertising the gig.
He says, "It was never contracted and we cancelled because the concert was announced falsely."
