Mike Leigh Up For Palme D'or

Films from Woody Allen, Mike Leigh and Oliver Stone will all play at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Leigh's comedy drama 'Another Year', featuring Jim Broadbent and Imelda Staunton, is the only British film to be included in the festival's top prize competition, the Palme d'Or.

Woody's 'You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger' and Stone's 'Wall Street - Money Never Sleeps' will also be shown at the festival but out of competition.

Leigh previously won the Palme d'Or in 1996 for 'Secrets And Lies' and was nominated again in 2002 for 'All Or Nothing'.

Among the other directors competing for the honour are Mexican Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and South Korea's Lee Chang-dong.

Ridley Scott's new Russell Crowe movie 'Robin Hood' will open this year's event.

The jury at this year's event is presided over by 'Alice in Wonderland' director Tim Burton, with panellists including British actress Kate Beckinsale and French author Emmanuel Carrere.

The 63rd Cannes Film Festival runs from May 12 to 23.
