Michelle Williams - Michelle Williams On Oscar Nomination, "It Slipped My Mind"
The Michelle Williams of old might've been pensively flicking through the TV channels, going over websites and waiting for the phone to ring to find out if she was among the nominees for the Academy Awards, but in 2012 she's got something more rewarding going on to worry about whether she's up for a gong at the biggest film awards of them all. The star of 'My Week With Marilyn' told the Today Show that she only heard the news when her friend told her "Michelle, they just called your name on TV."
Indeed it's motherly matters that seem to give Williams all the fulfilment she needs, with the star saying of the nomination morning, "It slipped my mind, which is something that's so great about having a kid. You get really absorbed." Continuing, she added "She gives me balance, and I know that any risks that I take in my work are actually safe, because nothing really bad can happen there. My success as a parent is what matters most to me."
It's refreshing to hear from an actress who's only recently come out of mourning the father to Matilda, Heath Ledger, who died in 2008. She'll be up for the Best Actress category at the Oscars against some pretty formidable opposition including Meryl Streep, Viola Davis and Rooney Mara, however it seems that now the star has realised that the only achievement she really needs is the on-going success of motherhood.
