Michael Jackson House Up For Sale

Michael Jackson's home has been put up for sale.

The Holmby Hills mansion where he died from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 is on the market for $29 million and comes complete with 1.26 acres of land.

The 'King of Pop' was renting the vast property in Bel Air, Los Angeles, for $100,000-a-month with his three children, Prince Michael, 13, Paris, 12, and eight-year-old Prince Michael II, also known as 'Blanket', while he rehearsed for his 'This Is It' London residency.

However, the $29 million price tag is a significant reduction from when the home was first put up for sale in 2008 for $38 million by owner Hubert Guez - who is chief executive of the Ed Hardy fashion brand -prior to the 'Thriller' singer's death.

The gated French Chateau-style estate boasts seven bedrooms and 13 toilets, as well as a gym, screening room, spa facilities, a seven-car garage and a wine cellar complete with tasting room.

It was recently revealed Michael's famous Neverland Ranch - which he relinquished amid financial worries in 2008 - could become an official memorial park for the iconic singer.

In July, state assembly member Mike Davis revealed plans to apply to the California State Senate for backing to turn the site - which in its heyday included a zoo and Ferris wheel - into a Michael Jackson-style Graceland, the preserved home of Elvis Presley.

Michael Jackson's Neverland to be Sold: What Can You Buy For $60m? 4308001 News

What would you do if you won the lottery this weekend? Buy a yacht? A football club? Well, you could also buy Neverland. Michael Jackson’s famous mansion / theme park in Santa Barbara is being put up for sale by property developers Colony Capital. While the property is valued at $27 million, industry insiders expect that it could sell for as high as $60 million because of its inherent value as a pop culture landmark.

While Neverland is owned by the Estate of Michael Jackson, Colony Capital have maintained a 12.5% undivided stake since 2008 when they bought out the late singer’s $23 million mortgage to prevent foreclosure on the property. Nearly six years later, Colony has exercised its legal right to sell the property in order to settle debts owed from the loan, interest etc..

Jackson, who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009, lived at the property until his child molestation trial in 2003. After he felt that the extensive police investigation and searches of the property had “violated” it, he lived in another property in Encino. In 2006, all of its facilities were closed and most of the staff at Neverland were made redundant.

Jackson originally purchased the land from golf course entrepreneur William Bone in 1988 for a fee somewhere between $16-30 million. In addition to being his home, Neverland was Jackson’s private amusement park.

So, what would you get for your $60 million? Stories concerning the magnificence of the property are legendary, reminiscent of the ludicrous splendour of Charles Foster Kane’s Xanadu mansion in the film Citizen Kane. In addition to over 3,000 acres of land, there is definitely a petting zoo, numerous rollercoasters and rides such as an Octopus, Carousel, Zipper and Pirate Ship, as well as bumper cars, amusement arcades and a Ferris wheel. Oh, and two railroads with steam locomotives, apparently.

Jackson Family To Star In New Reality Show - But Who Is Alejandra Jackson? 4282671 News

Members of Michael Jackson's extended family are set to star in a new reality series but most people have never heard of the focus of the upcoming show, Alejandra Jackson. So who is she and what exactly will she have to say when the six part series airs on Reelz.

Alejandra Jackson
Alejandra Jackson and her five children will form the focus of a new reality show.

Here are 5 facts you need to know:

1. Alejandra's children are cousins and siblings. But it's not as messed up as you think - well not quite. Alejandra had two children with Randy Jackson, Genevieve and Randy Jr., and then began a relationship with Randy's brother Jermaine. She married Jermaine and they have two children together, Jaafar and Jermajesty, although they have since divorced. Alejandra has also raised another son, Donte, since he was 2-years-old. Donte was originally adopted by the Jermaine and Randy's mother and father, Katherine and Joe. But, oddly, Donte now lives with Alejandra and will be appearing on the show.

There's nothing like keeping it in the family...

2. Alejandra finally moved out of the extensive Jackson home shortly after Michael's death in 2009. The family matriarch, Katherine, owns a large suburban home in Encino, Los Angeles where many of her eight surviving children and their numerous offspring live. Alejandra struck out with her five children on her own, but it doesn't appear to be her decision.

Randy JacksonJermaine Jackson
Alejandra Jackson has children with both brothers Randy (L) and Jermaine (R) Jackson.

3. Apparently there's a lot of politicking in the Jackson family, which is hardly surprising considering the family is so extensive. In a clip, as Billboard reports, Alejandra's daughter Genevieve explained how it wasn't necessary a matter of choice for them to leave, stating "We didn't want it to happen that way." Whilst Donte added "Some of the politics came into play."

4. More will likely to be revealed about the inner workings of the Jackson household, even though the family have not lived there for five years. Apparently the house was a constant hive of activity and some people could not entirely be trusted as Genevieve implied. She said "We were very sheltered. There's a lot of outside people coming in and out of our house. We had to watch what we said."

5. Despite the amount of tabloid coverage the family get, we still know very little about their lives. So why are they the subject of a reality show now? Randy Jr. said, "People already had a preconceived judgment of us and we weren't speaking. Now we feel comfortable enough to show how we really are."

The series, as Billboard reports, is due to premiere on Reelz on November 18th.

Beyoncé Pays Tribute To Michael Jackson On 5th Anniversary Of His Death 4259824 News

It has been five years since the tragic death of Michael Jackson and many stars want to share their thanks for his influence and legacy left behind.

The King of Pop passed away in June 2009 after receiving an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol as a sleeping aid by Dr Conrad Murray, who was eventually found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2011.

The convicted Grenada-born Conrad was released from prison, after serving two years of a 4 year prison sentence, this past October (2013) and still maintains that he is innocent.

But Wednesday (June 24th) marked the fifth anniversary of Jackson's untimely death, and the response of tributes from fans and performers alike has been enormous.

Beyoncé even shared a lengthy emotional letter to celebrate the 'Thriller's singer's life, and how his influence helped shape her own illustrious career.

Accompanying the four paragraph document, titled 'Inspiration Michael Jackson,' was a black and white photo of Jackson when he was just a child.

"When I was just starting out, my first producer used to make me listen to Michael Jackson's live performance of 'Who's Loving You,'" the 32 year-old singer wrote. "He would have me watch that for hours back to back to back."

Adding, "What he wanted me to learn was his soul. You could hear his soul. And he was this little kid who hadn't experienced love but he was a vessel. For whatever reason he could evoke more emotion than an adult. It was so raw and so pure. It was these little things that he did that were just swag. It's something that's God given."

"Michael taught me that sometimes you have to forget technique, forget what you have on. If you feel silly, you have to go from the gut just let it go," she continued.

"Michael Jackson changed me, and helped me to become the artist I am thank you Michael," the heartfelt post concluded.

Michael Jackson's Bodyguards Reveal Intimate Details About His Final Years 4240155 News

Michael Jackson’s bodyguards, Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard, have written a book giving their account of the final years of Jackson’s life. The two men spent two-and-a-half years working for Jackson, even continuing out of loyalty once he could no longer afford to pay them. They insist that Jackson was a good father and a good man: “We worked for Mr Jackson. We didn’t work for the King of Pop. We got to see him as a man and a father. It was so good to see the side of him which was so in tune as a parent, from helping them with their homework and making sure they were eating right, to putting them to bed.”

Michael Jackson Bodyguard Book Michael Jackson, also known as the King of Pop, died in 2009

They address the rumour that had dogged Jackson in the years leading up to his death and that has lingered since - that he was a paedophile. Both Whitfield and Beard deny that Jackson was sexually attracted to children, instead claiming he had two secret affairs with women. While they deny that Jackson was a paedophile, they do admit he was eccentric: “He was certainly eccentric…He would go into a store and buy everything. When we stayed in hotels he would buy thousands of books. At one point, he bought a whole bookstore.”

Whenever he travelled he would take a silver briefcase which contained a pair of Oscars won by 1939 classic movie Gone With The Wind, and another suitcase stuffed with thousands of dollars in cash. In his house he stored hundreds of bottles of Tobasco sauce and would make his family arrange appointments if they wanted to see him.

The children were never allowed to leave the house without masks covering their faces: “That’s all they knew. They knew to cover up and call each other code names in public.” They had no idea their father was known as “Wacko Jacko,” or in fact what any perception of their father from the outside world was. Javon explains: “He didn’t have any internet in the house. The kids couldn’t watch regular TV, so they never saw how he was portrayed.”

Jackson’s three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, were homeschooled so had no other friends and they rarely saw anyone other than their nanny and tutor. Jackson would have toy stores and cinemas closed if they went shopping or to see a movie.

After Jackson passed away in 2009 Whitfield tried to keep in touch with the kids, but he hasn’t spoken to Paris in over a year now. “I miss them…I didn’t want to push the contact but now I’m hoping the book will encourage them to reach out to us.”

Coolest Thing Online This Week? The Bottle Boys Cover "Billie Jean" 4227344 News

Covers of classic tracks and unconventional instruments are a big thing on youtube, so you can bet the Bottle Boys’ rendition of Billie Jean got some attention after it was posted this week. The Bottle Boys are a Danish band, who cover popular songs, using (you guessed it) glass bottles.

"Hi everybody! Once again it is time for BOTTLE MONDAY (last monday of the month) which means, that a new video is released! We are so excited for this one, because we simply just LOVE Michael Jackson," the group wrote on YouTube.

The five-piece Danish band has been posting covers on YouTube since 2010, and have covered songs like Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe, Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Getting Back Together and Eminem’s The Real Slim Shady. Despite the original concept, however, the channel only has just over 32,000 subscribers and even their most viewed video to date – Billie Jean – is yet to crack the half million view mark.

However, the band have seen some mainstream success. Last year, the Bottle Boys appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, performing their version of LMFAO's "Party Rock" for the judges. Unfortunately, their talent didn't impress Simon Cowell, but it did impress the three other judges. They've also starred in a Pepsi commercial playing a Bruno Mars hit in anticipation of his big Super Bowl halftime show.

So what about the Billie Jean cover? Will this be this month’s ear worm?

Eleonora49: You just described a "NON-DENOMINATION CHURCH." They shouldn't allow the mosque to be at that location. Too many people died there. I've heard a lot of conspiracy theories, but as it stands the attack was connected to a muslim group. It would be too painful for the families of those who died to have to see a mosque close to the world trade center. ------I've been saying they SHOULD RESTORE NEVERLAND & MAKE IT LIKE GRACELAND like a broken record. Michael's body does not have to be moved. I believe his spirit is there because that's where he was the happiest. I hope they hurry up & do it before the aniversary of his death & his birthday 2011. They're probably going to have to drop the price even lower to sell that house.
