Michael Jackson - Michael Jackson Honored By Prince, Paris And Blanket
Michael Jackson's children Prince, 14, Paris, 13 and Blanket, 9, paid tribute to their father by imprinting his hand and footmarks outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday (26 January 2012). The trio used Michael's famous sequin glove and dancing shoes to perform the tribute.
According to the Press Association, Prince reflected on his father's legacy at the ceremony, saying, "This, right here, is his lifetime achievement award. This is what he strived to get, and this is what we are giving him now". Also in attendance were Jackson's mother Katherine and his brothers Tito and Jackie, as well as teen pop sensation Justin Bieber, soul legend Smokey Robinson and Quincy Jones. The Baby hit-maker paid tribute to his hero and biggest influence, saying, "Michael meant so much to me, I know he meant a lot to you guys as well.He was more than entertainer - he was an inspiration in the way he was kind, he was gentle and very charitable. That's why I look up to him... Everything that I do I look at Michael and think I want to be as good as he was". Justin actually performed at the ceremony, belting out an a cappella rendition of Michael's hit 'Rockin Robin', to the delight of the large crowd that had gathered in Hollywood Boulevard.
Almost 200 stars of stage and screen have their imprints on display outside the theatre, including John Wayne, who left a print of his fist, and Al Jolson, who printed his knees. More recently, the stars of Harry Potter Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint left imprints of their magic wands.
