Michael Fassbender On-board For Assassin's Creed Adaptation
The CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, Jean-Julien Baronnet, told Variety magazine "Michael Fassbender was our first choice. (he) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor." Fassbender will take on the role of Desmond Miles (originally voiced by Nolan North, in the game), a barman who is drawn into a fantasy world of assassin's guilds. In the game, he travels through history, and has to relive his family's lives, via the wonder of cutting-edge Dna technology.
According to Empire online, the "creative forces" behind the gaming series (which has sold over 30 million units worldwide) are keen to retain control over the film's plot and vision and have thus far eschewed the traditional studio system. Baronnet did concede, however, "We're open to re-discuss with the key studios once the production package is finalised." They will be looking to create a game-to-movie adaptation that proves at least as successful as Resident Evil and are therefore playing their cards very close to their chest. Having Fassbender on board will be a shot in the arm for the progress of the movie.
