Michael Fassbender - Michael Fassbender Gets Prisoners
Michael Fassbender is set to take over from Leonardo DiCaprio in Denis Villeneuve's 'Prisoners'.
Michael Fassbender has been offered the lead role in 'Prisoners'.
The 'X-Men: First Class' actor is replacing Leonardo DiCaprio - who was initially offered the role a few years ago - in the suspense thriller from Alcon Entertainment.
Denis Villeneuve ('Incendies') is directing the project, in which Michael will play carpenter Keller Dove, who abducts and tortures a man he suspects of kidnapping his daughter when she goes missing.
It is not yet known who will play the victim of the torture in the upcoming movie, which is due for release in 2012.
The project is one of a number Irish star Michael has lined up, including the eagerly anticipated Ridley Scott-directed 'Prometheus', which is a prequel to the 'Alien' movie series.
Charlize Theron and Patrick Wilson are also in the film.
Michael has recently confessed to going to extreme lengths when preparing for a film, and even "explored" internet pornography for his new movie 'Shame'.
He said: "I definitely explored the realm of it. People can stay inside for 72 hours on end watching it. They can't have sex with their wives because they're so obsessed with it.
"What's really interesting about it is that in the US alone, something like 24 million people claim to be sex addicts but the mental-health board hasn't recognised it as an addiction."
