Fassbender plays sex addict Brandon in Steve McQueen's gripping drama, while Beharie portrayed the co-worker that he has a crush on. Many critics were stunned when the Academy snubbed Fassbender for a nomination at this year's Oscars, and the actor admits he let the buzz surrounding the movie get into his head, saying, "At the beginning people [say], 'You're going to be going to the Oscars,' and you're like, 'Whatever, doesn't matter, don't think so.' But after a while it does penetrate. After a while you're like, 'Anyway, so I'm going to the Oscars. And you start to believe it. And I did. I thought I was going. And then I found out I wasn't and I was upset. I was very upset by it. The first reaction was 'What the f**k?"

Fassbender has plenty of chances to scoop at Oscar nomination for next year's ceremony, with high profile roles in the likes of 'Prometheus' and 'Twelve Years a Slave' coming up.
