Michael Clarke Duncan - Michael Clarke Duncan's Death Shakes Hollywood: Green Mile Star Suffers Heart Attack

In tremendously sad news, the actor Michael Clarke Duncan has died aged just 54 years old after suffering from a heart attack. It was for his size as much as anything that the actor was first noticeable on the big screen; standing at an imposing 6-foot-4 and weighing around 300 pounds, his physical stature on screen was a sight to behold. However, Duncan had more than enough acting ability to ensure that, by the time of this premature death, it was his talent as a character actor that would be remember over his sheer visual qualities.
In a career that spanned dozens of films, in spite of him only taking up acting in his 30s, many will point to his stunning turn in 1999's Green Mile opposite Tom Hanks, a performance that saw him Oscar-nominated that year. His juxtaposition of brute intimidation mixed with a tender, gentle inside, won him plaudits all over Hollywood and beyond and helped propel him to roles in such box office hits as Armageddon, Planet Of The Apes and Kung Fu Panda to name but three.
Sadly his recent months had been tough, and he was being treated at Cedars-Sinair Medical Center in Los Angeles when he passed away. A statement released by his publicist on behalf of his fiancee Rev. Omarosa Manigault was reported by The Washington Post and read that Duncan "suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered. Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date." Of course, Michael Clarke Duncan's death has led to an outpouring of tributes on Twitter.
