Mia Wasikowska Highest Grossing Female Star Of 2010
Forbes magazine unveiled its annual list of box office earners yesterday (21st December 2010) and 21-year-old Wasikowska finished ahead of established stars such as Robert Downey Jr and Daniel Radcliffe to tie for second place with Johnny Depp. Fellow Australian Sam Worthington, who starred in the 3D 'Clash Of The Titans' remake took eighth place. Explaining Wasikowska's inclusion, a spokesperson for Forbes said, "Wasikowska was lucky enough to star as Alice in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland. And while there's no way she was the primary driver of ticket sales for the film, she did appear in almost every scene of the film and can't be fairly dismissed". Her appearance in the comedy movie 'The Kids Are Alright', which is being tipped for Oscar success, also helped her ranking. The actress is set to star as the eponymous 'Jane Eyre' in Cary Fukunaga's 2011 movie.
However, it was 36-year-old DiCaprio who secured the top spot having starred in a number of huge box-office hits. His psychological thriller 'Shutter Island' and the critically acclaimed 'Inception' grossed a combined $1.1 billion.
