Metallica Shows Raise $20,000 For Charity
The group played two sold-out shows in Montreal, Quebec at the weekend (19-20Sep09) and gave the box office takings - totalling 21,462 Canadian dollars - to Sun Youth, a community services organisation.
Co-founder Sid Stevens says, "It's a beautiful gift."
The band turns over part of its receipts to a local charity at every stop on tour - earlier this month (11Sep09), they raised $200,000 (£133,333) to help the local community in San Rafael, California, by playing their first ever hometown concert.
