Metallica Announce First UK Tour In 12 Years

by | 21 October 2008

Having topped album charts across Europe, Metallica have announced their first full UK tour since October 1996.

James Hetfield and friends will perform seven UK dates in 2009, all of which will be performed in the round, as their fans-only album release show at London's O2 Arena was.

Machine Head and the Sword will provide support for the dates, tickets for which go on sale at 09:00 BST on Friday October 24th.

"We can't wait to visit the UK again, so strap in, hang on, and get ready for the nuttiness to begin," said the band after the new tour was announced.

The band's recent album Death Magnetic, their ninth, topped the charts in 32 countries worldwide, including a fortnight in the UK and five weeks in Europe, even holding off the challenge of the new Oasis album.
