Meryl Streep Discusses Life With Artist Husband
MERYL STREEP, the OSCAR winning American actress who is set to play former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in a forthcoming biopic, has spoken candidly about life with her husband DON GUMMER.In an interview with The Metro, the actress was asked the secret to her happy marriage, to which she replied, "I have no idea. Think being married to an actor is hard? Try being married to an artist. But my husband does understand the deal: the serial fixation actors have with their work. It would be different if I were married to a lawyer or someone less freelance". The 61-year-old said that her husband's profession means the pair live a remarkably similar life, adding, "Artists wrangle their passions to make a living. I never have to say: 'It's not you, I'm just thinking about this film now and it's driving me crazy.' Because often it is the same for him". Streep and Gummer married in September 1978 and the couple have four children together, Henry, Mary, Grace and Louisa. Both Mary and Grace are actresses.
MERYL STREEP will portray Baroness Thatcher in the forthcoming movie 'The Iron Lady', scheduled for release later this year. The film, which also stars Jim Broadbent and RICHARD E. GRANT, will focus on the days leading up to the Falklands War in 1982.
