Meredith Vieira Says She's Not Afraid To Leave Today Show

MEREDITH VIEIRA, the American journalist and current co-host of the 'Today Show', says she's not afraid to leave her job, insisting it would give her the chance to travel with her husband. Recent reports have speculated that Vieira is ready to walk away from the show when her contract ends next year, with KATIE COURIC being tipped as a possible replacement.
In an interview with Ladies Home Journal, Vieira discussed the possibility of leaving the popular NBC morning show, saying, "I'll know when it's time to go, and I'm not afraid to go. If I were to leave at the end of next year because it's time for me, I wouldn't jump into another show. I would look forward to not working, to traveling with Richard and carving out time for us". The 56-year-old's contract was supposed to come to an end this year, but she signed an extension for a further 12 months.
Vieira completed the New York City marathon on Sunday (5th November 2010), running alongside NBC weatherman AL ROKER. She crossed the finishing line with a time of five hours and fifty nine minutes.

FINALLY...some sign that the producers of the Today Show have come to their senses! Vieira has got to go!! She been bringing the show down since her first day. It is not her forum. She was good on the View or a game show, but hard news (especially for more than an hour) is NOT her forte. I hope she realizes that it is, indeed, time for her to go on to other things. Her candor has been appreciated, however she is way too extreme for this show (or any serious show). She can be a bit tacky and excessive. Also, I really don't like to watch her constantly berate and tease Matt. I feel sorry for him when she starts the whole inappropriate comment thing and laughs it off like she's a stand-up. It seems she's jealous of him... and it's petty. Personally, I would enjoy her at a party... I totally can relate since we all know how our mouths may speak before the mind can catch up. But this is absolutely not a good place for someone who can't filter properly on morning televsion.

I think it would be a great loss for NBC if Meridith Vieira leaves the Today Show. She has brought so much more to the show than anyone else. Her pleasant personalty & humor adds so much to the show. Meridith: Never leave!

It was touch and go in the beginning of her appearance at the Today Show. Now she is totally part of the team and is quickly becoming my favorite person. Matt is not horrified by a Meredith Vieira. He is married to a Dutch woman and we, ex-Dutch people who are now part of our new American country, are quick to respond and often consider sarcasm perfectly normal. It took me years to figure out that Americans have trouble with quick wit especially at the expense of someone. Matt handels her beautifully and she has become a mother figure to the whole crew at the Today Show. They would miss her.Bringing back Katie Couric is a huge mistake. She giggled through every other show and was disturbingly flirtatious. Now that is unbecoming to news people. I hope Meredith stays. She has more wisdom than most of our press and she is not afraid to confront difficult subjects.

Meredith is the best. I love her humor, and it is obvious that everybody loves her on the news team. I watched Al (another favorite) on the morning after the marathon run with Meredith. They are good buddies, and the whole group is like having family visit each day!

i for one am glad she is leaving. she isn't even close to being a jornalist. the way she drills some of her guests after they have lost family members is sad and i set and cuss her constantly. she should also take al roker, jenna wolfe & kathy lee with her. these 4 are 4 of the biggest flops on television i have ever seen as far as i'm concerned. ann curry deserved merediths spot anyway before meredith came on. ann is 1000% times more of a journalist than meredith will ever be and kathy lee is nothing but a big loud mouth blonde. hoda and kathy lee should not be allowed to drink alcohol on tv. nobody should actually be allowed to drink on tv. it absolutely sends the wrong message out to the world about alcohol.

What is wrong in having a term limit for the anchors of these morning shows? I liked watching Katie Couric when she first started on the Today Show but it was not fun to watch after a few years. Meredith seems to have adjusted to the show after a couple of years. I would like to see her continue in the show. But if it is her desire to move on, I would like to see a new blood to have a chance to bring in freshness and creativity.

I would be glad for Mrs. Vieira to leave the Today Show, and it would be nice if she would take Matt Laurer with her. I quit watching awhile back, I got tired of her booze jokes, and his arrogant attitude, please find someone younger, prettier to replace her, and someone not so condescending to replace Matt Laurer!
