Mel Gibson Starts Community Service Hours
In March (11), the actor struck a plea deal with Los Angeles prosecutors in a bid to stay out of jail after he was accused of attacking ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva during a heated argument last year (10).
Under the terms of the agreement, Gibson was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to undergo 52 weeks of counselling, pay almost $600 (£400) in fines and serve 16 hours of community service.
Gibson, who landed in the Central American country on Wednesday (08Jun11), plans on finishing his volunteer duties by Thursday (09Jun11), according to Tmz.com.
The Braveheart star will work with a local chapter of Mending Kids International - the organisation which, until recently, boasted his ex-wife Robyn as President of the Board of Directors.
