Mel Gibson - Mel Gibson 'Hates Jews', Says Maccabees Scriptwriter
Following the cancellation of the movie The MACcabees, about the famous 2nd century BC Jewish revolt, the screenwriter Joe Eszterhas has written a nine page letter - published by The Wrap - accusing Mel Gibson of anti-semitism and of using offensive anti-Jewish language whilst they worked on the script together.
Gibson has been accused of anti-semitism before and according to a report in today's Guardian (April 12, 2012), the news that he was on board to direct the movie "was greeted with dismay by Jewish community leaders last year." In his letter, Eszterhaus wrote to Gibson "I've come to the conclusion that the reason you won't make The MACcabees is the ugliest possible one. You hate Jews. You continually called Jews 'Hebes' and 'oven-dodgers' and 'Jewboys.'" Eszterhas went on to reveal that Gibson had told him that he thought the Holocaust "was mostly a lot of horse*hit" and that by getting involved in the movie, he hoped to "convert the Jews to Christianity." In a matter aside from the movie, he says that Mel Gibson even ranted about his former partner Oksana, saying "I'm going to have her killed!"
