Mel C Hints At Spice Girls Reunion

by | 15 June 2007

Mel C has hinted that there is some truth in the rumours that the Spice Girls are reuniting.

The singer, whose real name is Melanie Chisholm, told BBC London's radio station that "for the first time ever, there is some truth in the rumours it could happen".

Reports have circulated for some time suggesting that the Spice Girls will reunite for a series of shows in support of their greatest hits record, which is due to be released later this year.

Until now Mel C, who has experienced one of the most successful solo careers for a former Spice Girl, has always refused to sign up to a reunion, insisting that the original run for the band was something they could "never recreate".

But it appears the picture has now changed and the band could enter rehearsals after fellow band mate Emma Bunton has given birth to her baby.

The band - comprising Geri Halliwell, Bunton, Mel C, Mel B and Victoria Beckham - split in 2000 after Halliwell quit the band to enjoy a successful solo career.

Since then all of the members have had varied success in their ventures, with Posh Spice entering fashion and Bunton recording the last Children in Need single.

At their height the Spice Girls were the most popular band in the UK and also enjoyed some success in the US.

There hits include Wannabe, Two Become One, Say You'll Be There, Stop and Who Do You Think You Are?
